Simple Learning Activities for Teachers and Parents

Help your child learn more about kangaroos with these easy activities:

While Coloring:

  • Read the kangaroo fact out loud
  • Ask: “What color should we make the kangaroo’s fur?”
  • Count things in the picture (How many ears? How many legs?)

After Coloring:

  • Ask: “What new thing did you learn about kangaroos?”
  • Have your child tell you about their colored picture
  • Ask: “What do you think the joey feels like inside the pouch?”

Super Simple Activities:

Kangaroo Body Parts Game: Point to parts of the kangaroo and say the name. Have your child repeat: “ears,” “tail,” “pouch,” “legs,” “paws.”

Word Learning: New words your child can learn: joey, pouch, hopping, Australia, marsupial, jumping.

Story Time: Ask your child to make up a short story about their colored kangaroo. How high can they jump? How does it take care of its baby?

Fun Hopping Game: Have your child hop like a kangaroo around the room while you count together!

These simple activities help build vocabulary, observation skills, and memory while having fun!
